The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is one of Canada’s key immigration pathways designed to attract skilled workers from around the world. As part of the Express Entry system, the FSWP is tailored for individuals with valuable skills and work experience in high-demand occupations.
To qualify for the FSWP, applicants must meet minimum eligibility criteria related to education, language proficiency, work experience, and adaptability factors.
Candidates are assessed based on the CRS, which assigns points for various factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. Higher CRS scores increase the chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. adaptability factors.
The FSWP targets individuals with skills and experience in occupations that are in high demand in Canada's labor market. Applicants must have work experience in a National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Type 0, A, or B occupation.
The FSWP operates within the Express Entry system, which manages applications for three federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are immigration pathways administered by Canada’s provinces and territories, allowing them to nominate individuals who have the skills, experience, and intention to settle in a specific region. Each province and territory operates its own PNP with unique eligibility criteria and streams tailored to their labor market needs and economic priorities.
The program aims to address labor market shortages in the region by facilitating the immigration of skilled workers and international graduates to Atlantic Canada.
AIPP is employer-driven, meaning that candidates must have a valid job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces to be eligible for the program.
AIPP consists of three immigration streams: the Atlantic High-Skilled Program, the Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program, and the Atlantic International Graduate Program. Each stream has its own eligibility criteria and requirements.
Successful applicants and their families can obtain Canadian permanent residency through AIPP, allowing them to live, work, and study in Atlantic Canada indefinitely.
Candidates nominated through AIPP receive a provincial nomination from one of the participating Atlantic provinces, which expedites the processing of their permanent residency application.
AIPP requires candidates to have a valid job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada, providing added support and stability for newcomers.
AIPP encourages candidates to settle and integrate into the local communities of Atlantic Canada, contributing to the region's economic and social development.
Permanent residents nominated through AIPP can eventually apply for Canadian citizenship, granting them all the rights and privileges of being a Canadian citizen.
The Global Talent Stream (GTS) is a fast-track Canadian work permit program designed to facilitate the entry of highly skilled foreign workers into Canada’s labor market. Administered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the GTS aims to address labor shortages in key sectors and promote economic growth and innovation.
GTS consists of two categories: Category A for innovative companies with a proven track record of hiring global talent, and Category B for companies seeking to hire foreign workers for occupations on the Global Talent Occupations List.
Employers hiring through the GTS benefit from expedited processing of work permit applications, with most applications processed within two weeks.
The Global Talent Occupations List identifies high-demand occupations in sectors such as technology, engineering, and healthcare. Workers in these occupations may be eligible for expedited processing under Category B of the GTS.
Successful applicants under the GTS receive a temporary work permit, allowing them to work for the designated employer in Canada for the duration specified in their work permit.
